Smoke and air pollution from wildfires increases emergency room visits and breathing difficulty, particularly among more vulnerable populations like the elderly, children, and people with prior respiratory and cardiovascular conditions. Can you develop a system to track expected health impacts across populations based on anticipated smoke and wildfire outcomes? How will wildfire smoke exacerbate health outcomes among individuals already at higher risk of COVID-19 (e.g. asthma, chronic lung disease)? Can you develop a system to identify areas in California at higher risk of both wildfire smoke and COVID-19?
