Community Reslience

Main content start

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's (CAL FIRE) mission is to serve and safeguard the people and protect the property and resources of California. Fostering cooperation necessitates cultivating relationships with not only government and private sectors, but with the public we serve. CAL FIRE staff continually engage with our communities yet may not possess the cultural competencies related to the groups they are addressing.

  1. How can CAL FIRE improve our understanding of the populations and communities we serve?
  2. How can population data be leveraged to improve CAL FIRE community outreach, wildland fire education, and development of programs and policies?

Can you develop a set of metrics or a tool that will help CAL FIRE understand the cultural diversities within the communities we serve? Tool may include a set of metrics which summarize data like key demographics, language, vulnerable populations, race, equity, economics, urban, rural and wildland areas, etc.
